The GiroDisc system is a lightweight, high-performance upgrade to OEM rotors, featuring a larger 350mm size for improved braking and cooling. Made from U.S.-sourced materials, it includes a floating mount system with proprietary drive pins for durability, noise reduction, and self-centering during operation.
The GiroDisc system serves as a direct replacement for the OEM disc, enhanced by the inclusion of provided caliper spacers. The GiroDisc rotor offers an upgraded size of 350mm compared to the OEM’s 340mm, delivering improved braking force and enhanced cooling capacity. Weighing approximately 21.0lbs., GiroDisc front rotors are lighter than the stock units at 24.4lbs., reducing rotational and unsprung weight for quicker acceleration and improved suspension response. The central hat section is constructed from U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum, ensuring exceptional durability. The disc itself is crafted from GiroDisc’s proprietary cast iron, poured domestically and precision-machined entirely in-house. A curved vane design, inspired by racing technology, acts as a centrifugal pump to channel cooling air efficiently through the disc. The rotor and hat are connected using a floating mount system with 10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins, also manufactured in-house to proprietary specifications. These pins, cadmium-plated for long-lasting corrosion resistance, handle the braking load while preserving axial and radial float between the hat and disc. Secured by class 12.9 cap screws and hardened washers, the system is designed for reliability and performance. To minimize noise during cold operation, the pins incorporate anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side. These washers accommodate heat expansion while preventing rattling and noise typically associated with floating rotors. The floating design also ensures the rotor self-centers between the brake pads for optimal performance.
Brake rotors have long been an underappreciated component in performance car braking systems. Traditional one-piece rotors are heavy, retain heat, and reduce braking efficiency while increasing unsprung weight, which negatively impacts handling. Founded in 2003, GiroDisc set out to revolutionize this area by designing and manufacturing two-piece brake rotors engineered to perform flawlessly under extreme conditions. GiroDisc’s fully floating design utilizes tension hardware to ensure silent operation on the street while delivering track-ready performance. By focusing exclusively on this specialized niche, GiroDisc has advanced its engineering and manufacturing processes to industry-leading standards. Enthusiasts worldwide have enhanced their existing brake systems with GiroDisc rotors, often avoiding the expense and complexity of a big brake kit upgrade. Based in Bellingham, Washington, GiroDisc handles every aspect of production — from design and engineering to manufacturing and fulfillment—on site.
